In her 16 years at Chalet, Jennifer Brennan founded and grew Chalet's respected Education Series to 80 sessions per year which reach:
• 3,000 adult learners annually
• 700 children annually
• 500 people at off-site programs
Because it is content-rich and science-based, it is the only lecture series used by Master Gardeners for certifiable course work. And yet Jennifer maintains the sessions as approachable for every level, even entertaining. And they are free.
Prior to coming to Chalet, Jennifer taught at the Chicago Botanic Garden for seven years and was a staff horticulturalist in the Plant Information Offices. She interned at the renowned Longwood Gardens in Pennsylvania after completing her B.S. in Ornamental Horticulture with a minor in Botany at the Univesity of Illinois, where she studied under one of horticulture's venerated leaders, Dr. Michael Dirr.
Jennifer is one Chalet's leading spokespersons. She is the ABC-TV Channel 7's horticulture correspondent, appearing monthly with Tracy Butler, the Morning News weather anchor. She co-hosted Today's Homeowner with Danny Lipford, a nationally syndicated TV show, and has appeared on most area television and radio stations, including on The Oprah Winfrey Show, with her expert commentary. In addition, she is regularly cited in gardening, home and other publications. Jennifer is a frequent lecturer at regional industry shows and garden clubs.
